The History and Development of Šilelis
History
The product, which received a sonorous Lithuanian name, was born in one of Kaunas' largest factories - the "Banga" radio factory, established on June 19, 1956. This was the day when the first product, a five-channel television tuner, was registered in the factory's planning department. However, the most famous product manufactured at the factory was the "Šilelis" portable television with a screen diagonal of just 32 cm. The first such television ("Šilelis-401 D") was designed in 1973. It is also interesting that this television was available not only in the Soviet Union but also in other European countries and even the USA. On April 25, 1995, "Banga" was declared bankrupt, and the production of Šilelis ceased. More than 20 years later, Šilelis production resumed, but now it is not a portable television but a modern LED projector.
First projector P-1
We've transformed a small black and white TV into the biggest screen in your home. By recreating Šilelis, we wanted to fundamentally change the video projector market – to offer people an affordable projector. Through it, users could watch their favorite movies, sports games, or play computer games, thus creating a cozy atmosphere in their homes or country houses.
In 2016, we introduced the first Šilelis projector model P-1 in Lithuania, and it was a success. A few months later, we started selling in Europe. We are proud that the projector is being developed not only by us but also by our users/community, who constantly share their impressions and suggestions. To date, we have created several projector models, which often become the main home cinema screen.
TV set-top box
When developing the first Šilelis TV set-top box, we primarily focused on giving you the freedom to choose your favorite shows and movies and watch them at your convenience, without commercials that take up a significant amount of airtime. The company's previous experience with Android devices facilitated this task, leading to the birth of our first TV set-top box, which often becomes the most frequently used computer at home. Now you can turn your TV or projector into a smart device simply by connecting one of our set-top boxes.
The return of television
50 years later, "Šilelis" returned to its roots – we introduced a TV set where the focus is not on excessive features, but on real-world use. Simple operation, reliable performance, and a clear picture – that's what's truly needed every day.
